Incoming Day 2012

Peter Siemering

How well do you actually know Bremen and Bremerhaven? You may be familiar with the fairytale of the Bremen Town Musicians, our most recognisable global symbol. And, of course, you have probably heard of our successful football team, Werder Bremen, and possibly of our prizewinning formation dance team as well.

But did you know, for example, that our town hall and the Roland statue that stands before it — our own 'statue of liberty' — have UNESCO World Heritage status?

Or that over seven million people emigrated through the port of Bremerhaven and that their journeys can be researched at the Emigration Centre?

The sister cities of Bremen and Bremerhaven have been shaped by more than 1,200 years of history, and today they offer maritime charm along the banks of the Weser, quaint old quarters and innovative worlds of discovery.

To convince you of Bremen and Bremerhaven's calibre as a tourist destination, we would like to invite you to our second 'Incoming Day Bremen'.

Prepare to be surprised by the unusual and exciting facets of these two neighbouring cities: Bremen, the historical city, which is also — did you know? — one of Germany's leading centres for space travel. And innovative Bremerhaven, a centre for wind energy and climate research.

Old cities with a 21st century dynamic!

Best wishes
